Who Are The Avett Brothers? The Band From Concord, NC

· The Band

The Avett Brothers are a folk-rock band from Concord, North Carolina. They mix banjo, acoustic guitar, upright bass and cello with close brotherly harmonies, and they have been at it since 2000. Here is a short introduction from the Avett Brothers Merch crew.

Who is in the band?

Scott Avett sings and plays banjo, and Seth Avett sings and plays guitar. The two brothers started the band in 2000. Bob Crawford joined on bass in 2001, and Joe Kwon brought his cello in 2006. On tour they play with Mike Marsh on drums, Tania Elizabeth on violin and Bonnie Avett-Rini on piano.

How did it start?

Before the band, Scott played in a college rock band called Nemo and Seth in a high-school band called Margo. At night the brothers played acoustic music with friends, and those songs became The Avett Brothers.
